What is Anxiety?

Are your thoughts controlling you?

Do you feel you are focusing too much into the unknown?

Maybe, even having a hard time staying present.

Anxiety is best described when we are focusing too far into the future. We begin to create cognitive distortions which are forms of anxious thoughts. These anxious thoughts may appear in physical symptoms. These so-called cognitive distortions include but are not limited to all-or-nothing thinking, catastrophizing and most commonly personalization.

There are a variety of triggers that may cause the desire to start therapy. Some of the reasons may look like:

  • Difficulty sleeping

  • Headaches

  • Feeling nervous

  • Difficulty staying present

  • Feeling irritable or distracted

How We Can Help

All of our Calgary anxiety therapists operate on a holistic perspective of therapy. Meaning, we will work with you in understanding the world around you which contributes to the negative thoughts formed as anxiety.

Anxiety is often treated through a modality called cognitive behavioural therapy, commonly known as CBT. CBT is a method used to challenge the thought patterns so innately created. By doing so, one can begin to understand negative thought patterns, reduce self-sabotaging, and establish healthier and alternative thoughts.

During our anxiety treatment together we will begin with an intake session in Calgary in person or virtually. In this first session, we’ll discuss why you chose to seek trauma-informed anxiety therapy and your personal goals.

The process of holistic anxiety therapy holds a lot of uncertainty, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
